ORM (Online Reputation Management) - A Summary

More than 80% of the internet subscribers use search engines like Google to find more information about a brand, a person or an organization.

ORM
ORM (Online Reputation Management) is nothing but managing the reputation online and it can be related to name of a brand, a person or an organization.

Why ORM
Today 3 out of 5 buyers check reviews online before buying any product or service. In this era of internet now it has become easier to place your order online and make payment once you receive your product in your hand. So people always look for the best and do a proper research about the product before placing the order and it may create direct impact on sales of the product based on the reviews over the internet.

ORM Process
Create: Make your presence online and create positive impact of your brand

Monitor: Keep track on every activity about your brand name over internet

Push & Pull: Push negative feedback down and pull positives up

What to track
  • News & Articles
  • Blogs
  • Forums
  • Reviews
  • YouTube
  • Facebok
  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn
  • Google +

These are mandatory to track but there are more social networks like Myspace, Flickr, Foursquare etc to be tracked.

Monitor
To monitor all these it needs an ORM expert having very good understanding about internet and search process. It can be tracked manually as well as you can use some tools which are available in the market like BrandsEye, Viralheat, Hootsuite etc.

Respond
It depends on the kind of query or feedback the customer has given but always remember that “Customer is King” so make sure what ever you respond should be in very soft and proper manner and should be related to the feedback only and try to resolve the issue as soon as possible otherwise the post could be viral over internet and that can harm the reputation of your brand.

Outcome

If ORM is done in a proper manner it will lead to better customer satisfaction, good brand reputation and increase in sales.

Social Media has emerged as a revolution in the field of marketing. Today social media is no more remains a “choice”; it has become an integral part of every organization either it is a startup or a well established organization. Just a few years back Online marketing was limited to Search Engines (SEO, SEM & PPC),& Email Marketing, where you have to put lots of efforts and still not sure either you will get the desired result or not and most of them were long term activities where you have to wait for results.

So The Social Media came into existence where neither to invest much nor to wait for the results.
According to Social Media Report 2012, the most commonly used marketing platforms are-
• Social Media Marketing: 94%
• Email Marketing: 87%

• 85% of all businesses that have a dedicated social media platform as part of their marketing strategy reported an increase in their market exposure

Here Social Media presence does not mean that you have to be every where in the web but atleast be there where your customers are. Here is a list of Social platforms where every business must be:

Durgesh TiwariFacebook: The fastest growing social network in the world and one of the easiest ways to reach your audience.

YouTube: People remember things faster and for long time what they see in comparison to what they listen or read.

Twitter : It’s a micro blog but the most effective way to attract your customers.

• Facebook : 92%
• Twitter : 82%

So based on above statistics and trend it can be concluded that in this era of social marketing every marketer should be able to identify and analyze the social data if they want to “get the pulse of market”. Social Media has become the most cost effective way to promote the business but it is not that much easy as it seems.
